Mobile Platforms
Most modern smartphone and tablet Mobile devices are suitable for use with EXTEND7000 providing they support one of the following mobile operating platforms:
- Blackberry
- iOS (iPhone and iPad)
- Windows Mobile
- Windows phone
- Android

Mobile web browsers offer a poor user experience compared to installed applications. EXTEND7000 deploys a client/server architecture where each EXTEND7000 Mobile Client has been carefully designed to be intuitive and have the same look and feel as the device's native functions.
For harsh environments, protective cases are available for many smartphones or alternatively, ruggedised industrial terminals can be purchased for the Android and Windows Mobile platforms. Mixed devices are supported in the same project - you can, for example, deploy ruggedized devices for use by engineers whilst managers can utilise their existing smartphones.
To keep pace with the rapid changes in the Mobile industry, new clients are always under development.
Connectivity options

Both Wi-Fi and Mobile Data Network connections are supported. When a user moves out of range of the WLAN, most mobile devices will automatically roam to the Mobile Data Network.
Push notifications are supported for both the Blackberry and Apple iOS devices helping to reduce message transport time and extend battery life. When using Blackberry, EXTEND7000 will also manage the connection to the Blackberry NOC and corporate BES server.
Conforms to the highest security standards
When mobile technology such as EXTEND7000 is used to support business critical processes, mobile platform security becomes an increasingly important issue. The manufacturers of the mobile platforms used by EXTEND7000 understand the critical nature of security and the importance it plays within the corporate infrastructure. There has been considerable investment by these companies to design and maintain their technology according to the highest available security standards.
To find out more about each manufacturer's individual approach to security and how this will benefit your organisation, please review the detailed information on their respective websites. Below you will find links to the online security sections for RIM, Apple, Microsoft and Android.
Each manufacturer has ensured that they can comply with the requirements of the strictest corporate security policies either by applying the right configuration or by extending their built-in security layer with third party products. In addition, SCHAD works closely with customers to design an appropriate level of security for individual mobile solutions, which meets their requirements today and in the future.
Security - How it works in practice
EXTEND7000 requires each user to enter a valid user name and password to access the application. Authentication can either be made directly to the EXTEND7000 administration service or Microsoft Active Directory.
The Blackberry mobile platform is inherently secured using AES or Triple DES encryption. Additional advanced Blackberry security features ensure sensitive documents are viewed from the Blackberry Enterprise Server rather than downloaded to the mobile device.
